John "Ronald" Robinson

Born in Edmonton to Elsie and Fenn Robinson, Millet and then Poplar Forest District became home. When Ron was 3 years old, his mother passed away.  In 1936 Harriet Jones and young son Arnold came to work for Fenn and stayed.  In 1945 they moved to the Asker district.  Ron attended the Poplar Forest and Asker schools.  Belonging to the 4-H Grain and Beef clubs, he competed in the Toronto Royal Winter and Chicago International Fairs as well as locally.  He also participated in Junior Club and Young Farm People's events.  He went logging awhile near Nordegg but returned to farming.

Ron liked to fish and many Sundays were spent at lakes in the area.  He went hunting big game, geese, and ducks with friends.  When not farming, he traveled around Alberta and British Columbia.  In 1990 he was off to England and visited with relatives.  He loved to visit with neighbors, attend community and church activities, and farm sales.  Ron rented the land, cared for Hattie, oversaw the Ponoka Ag Society Grain & Seed Division competitions and found a partner in Donna Bunny.  They lived in Bowden and then Innisfail where he passed away at the age of 87.

He was predeceased by his mother and father as well as Hattie and Arnold Jones.  Ron is survived by his cousins in England; Donna and her sons George and Bill Bunny and families; and Arnold's family - Marie, Kevin, Daniel and Deidre, Brian, Juliet, Julian-Marie, and Angeline Jones.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017.
