July 5, 1997 - June 5, 2018​

James Edward (Jamesy) Stigant of Wetaskiwin, Alberta passed away June 5, 2018 in Edmonton as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered the previous evening. Left to grieve are James’ fiancé Kyla Elder, his parents Dawn and Michael, his brothers William, David and Thomas, and an extended group of family and friends all shocked by this untimely death.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 11:00 at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin followed by an informal reception at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge (1559) Hall at 4915 49th Street, Wetaskiwin.

Donations in the memory of James Stigant are welcomed for the Stollery Children’s Hospital, the Heart & Stroke Foundation and/or a wildlife conservation charity of your choice.

James has prematurely joined his baba Lena Wachniak, grandfather William Welbourne, grandmother Ruth Welbourne, while leaving to grieve his grandparents John and Anne Stigant of Victoria, B.C., his aunts, Caroline Stigant, Kathy Welbourne and Roberta Helmke.

James will be lovingly remembered as a gentle giant, full of the joys that love, family, outdoor pursuits, and hard work bring.  Ball cap, heavy gloves, huge safety boots, a hard hat and coveralls were his life uniform. His love of things mechanical and a hearty meal like roast with potato and gravy was only exceeded by his love for Kyla.

Trucks, fishing lures, long guns, missing wrenches,  life at the campfire have all cemented the happy memories James has given to his wide circle of family and friends.  James’ ashes will be distributed in the outdoors he loved in locations important to his memory.
