George Allison Obituary

Mr. George A. Allison passed away in Edmonton at the University of Alberta Hospital on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the age of 81 years.

George was born at Rimbey, Alberta on May 23, 1937.  He was predeceased by his parents Pete and Lodi Allison; his brothers-in-law Frank Frey and Joe Prefontaine; and his nephew James Prefontaine.

George is survived by his loving wife, Margo; his sister Carrie Frey of Airdrie and her family:  Shirley Fleck (Harold) and her daughters Annette Spalding (Jason) and Karen Baillie and her son Nathan; Joe Frey and his children Ken Frey and Shauna Park (Keith); Rick Frey (Sandra) and his daughter Natalie McGivern (James); Sandra Dubbin (Dave) and her sons Dave Dubbin (Carly) and son Riley, and Jason Dubbin; Don Frey (Jocelyn) and his daughters Caitlyn Frey and Camille Darby (Justin).

George is also survived by his sister Gertrude Prefontaine of Red Deer and her family:  Ed Prefontaine, Pat Prefontaine (Andrea) and his children Matthew, Maria, and Kate Prefontaine; Carolyn Dixon (Bob) and her children Jennifer McLellan (Stephen Anderson) and her children Josh, Kristy, and Liam McLellan; Kyle Lane (Michelle Smith) and his sons Erek and Kaden Lane, and James Lane; Dave Prefontaine (Paige Thompson) and his children Jessica Prefontaine and Brendan Carlson; Faye Craven and her daughters Ally and Erica Craven.

George is also survived by Margo’s family:  her parents Merv and Anne Evans; Ken Evans (Karen) and his children Kyra and Kaden Evans; Kathy Hosler (Doug) and her sons Tyler and Wyatt Hosler; Will Evans (Lauren Madson) and his daughter Sinead Evans; Alison Peoples (Dion) and her sons Dallas, Evan, and Connor Peoples.

A celebration of George’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 3:00 pm at the Stagecoach Saloon, located at the Ponoka Stampede grounds.   A light lunch will follow.  A family interment is planned at the Dakota Community Cemetery.

Donations in memory of George Allison can be made to the Dakota Community Cemetery Fund, the Dakota Hall Fund, the University of Alberta Hospital Neuro ICU, or the donor’s choice.
