Gene Alan Cline

Eugene “Gene” Alan Cline, a long time resident of Valleyview, Alberta, passed away on January 27, 2018 near Simonette River at the age of 60 years. He was born on July 25, 1957 in Ponoka, Alberta. Gene spent many years as a Plant and Field Operator for the Oil and Gas Industry. He was very committed to all the things he loved; his family, his work and his many friends. Gene’s interests included being a fisherman, a hunter, an artist, a builder and a farmer. He was also a loyal fan of the Calgary Flames and the Calgary Stampeders. Gene is remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Melody; his sons Michael Cline and Ryan Cline; his mother Anna Cline; his brother Terry (Marie) Cline; his sisters Cindy (Neal) Jehn and Sherlee (Kevin) Knox; his sister-in-law Darlene Cline; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home. Donations in Gene’s name are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S. or the Valleyview Hospital Foundation.

Well that is what has happened to our family. With the sudden loss of a Husband, Father, Son, and Brother, we have been surrounded by kindness from family, friends, co-workers, & neighbours. We are so proud to be part of this kind of community. We have been so blessed with all the hugs, prayers, visits, phone calls, texts, cards, flowers, gifts, food, and snow removal. This kindness has helped us cope at this extremely difficult time.
