Erna was a wonderful person with a great sense of humour and we were very lucky to be neighbours on the farm. One memory I have is when I was around 20, living in Edmonton and went home for the weekend. I brought my cross country skis with me and had intentions of skiing around the country block. So I headed south and then turned west onto the road where Erna lived. She spotted me on the road and inisisted I stop in for a visit which I did. Next thing I know she has the blender out and she's mixing up pink ladies - which I cannot imagine what was in them today. Needless to say I was in no condition to continue skiing and Erna said, "Don't worry we'll call your mom and dad to come and get you." They did - and were not in much better shape than I was as the evening progressed.
I enjoyed suppers with her whenever I would make it home. My mom always had a cushion for Erna in the car to sit on. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I hope that your memories will console you and make you smile as time goes on. She was truly special.

Erna was a special woman. A loving and non- judgemental Mother, Wife and Friend. She was full of life for life. Erna was grateful for the simplest facets of everyday life - to love and be loved; to be active; to be objective no matter what one had to endure; to laugh and enjoy the the moment. Erna was possessed with her sparkling intelligence which everyone felt and experienced. We were privileged to have known and loved her. She had left us but will remain in our hearts and tender memories. Our deepest sympathies to her family for their tremendous loss.
