Bernadette Theresa (Toth) Johnson

Bernadette (Bernie) Johnson was born on March 12, 1929 in the Manfred District of Ponoka and passed away on July 3, 2019 in Ponoka at the age of 90 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Karen (Jerry) Deckert, Cathy (Gary) Edwards, Connie (Kerry) Clarke, and Tim (Julia) Johnson; grandchildren Janelle (Cameron) Hinton, Jeffery (Kristy) Deckert, Jackie Koehn, Brydon (Lane) Edwards, Jarod Edwards, Lindsay (Jason) Desnoyers, Landon (Nicole) Clarke, Miranda Johnson, and Ashlyn Mackie; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Verna Blumhagen, Barbara Kramer, Valerie Weber, Wilfred (Muriel) Toth, and Daniel (Claudia) Toth. She was predeceased by her husband Aldo; parents Joseph and Rosie Toth; siblings Henry Toth, Martin Toth, Mary DeZaeyer; brother-in-law Leonard (Hazel) Johnson; and sisters-in-law Evelyn (Ronald) Richardson, Doris (Tom) Humphrey, and Florence (Lloyd) Cooper.

Bernie’s love and care for her family was always evident. She cooked family meals, gave unselfishly to her spouse, children and grandchildren, and taught us all valuable life lessons like honesty, fairness, the rewards of working hard and how to journey on when you face adversity. She enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, dancing, cooking, fishing, travelling, solving puzzles, playing cards, and spending summers at Red Deer Lake surrounded by family. Most of all she loved reminiscing and laughing with the numerous friends and family who stopped for visits.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponoka Funeral Home.
