On July 1st, 2019, Albert N. Shaw of Edmonton, Alberta passed away at the age of 95 years.
Albert was born in Park Siding, British Columbia on June 30th, 1924 and peacefully passed away at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, Edmonton, Alberta. He was predeceased by his lovely wife, Virginia Mae Shaw (nee Daley) on March 19th, 2000. He will be remembered by his loving family, five sons, Ralph Shaw, George Shaw, Dan (Irmy) Shaw, Steven (Yoriko) Shaw, & Peter (Samantha) Shaw; three daughters, Lorraine (Peter) Gerein, Mable Ann (David) Penner, & Marion (Andrew) Shaw. Al will also be remembered by his many special grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the many loved members of Virginia’s family who were extremely close to him.
Al was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an ordinance worker in the LDS Temple in Edmonton, Alberta.
His colourful life included 34 missions as a Tail-Gunner with 6 Group Bomber Command R.C.A.F. during World War II. Al then obtained his Horology degree and owned his own jewelry shop specializing in watch repair. He had many experiences with bears, moose, rough water and thin ice while logging for 11 years, followed by a 40+ year career in insurance and investments. Nothing surpassed his love for family and the Lord. A Funeral Service will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (9010 85th Street NW Edmonton) on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Albert, donations may be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or to the Charity of donor’s choice.
