David was born at the Edmonton General Hospital on April 3rd, 1946 to Helen (Carlson) Rode. He was adopted by Lloyd and May Christie on April 13, 1946. He attended school in Edmonton, Pipestone School, Calmar High School and Pigeon Lake Regional High School. He then continued on to further his education at the Southern Alberta Institution of Technology in the Automotive Mechanics Program. Upon finishing he went to work at gas plants in Whitecourt, Gilby and Edmonton. He later on got his ticket as a Millwright in Edmonton and did machinist work as well. After he retired he took a new career path and enjoyed the time he worked in his sons cigar store one day a week. On December 7th, 1968 David married Linda Watt at the Mulhurst United Church. David spent his life creating memories with family and friends who are like family and will be best remembered as a true and loyal forever friend. He shared good times with them especially enjoying trips to Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Indio, California.

He is also survived by best friends who are family Rick and Georgee Klein, Sallie Klein, Jorey and Meghan Klein and his special furry friend Chico.
His greatest joy in life was being the proud grandpa and papa of his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He truly adored his family and he could never spend enough time with them.
