It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Phil Arthur Nelson on January 17, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Phil passed away at home with his wife, Doris, at his side.
Leaving behind to mourn; his wife, Doris; three daughters, Debbie Lee (Keven Holmes), Phyllis Nelson and Cathy (Les) Melin; step-sons, Nick (Connie) Kreutz, Larry Kreutz (Carole McDonald); 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phil was predeceased by his first wife, Jessie; brother, Harold; sister-in-law, Phoebe; son-in-law, Brian Lee and nephew, Wayne Nelson.
Phil was born and raised west of Millet where he dairy farmed until 1975. He then moved to Armstrong, BC and returned to Wetaskiwin in 1986. Phil enjoyed looking after the curling rink ice for 11 years and continued to curl well into his eighties.
Phil also enjoyed square dancing with Doris and their friends. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man by his family and friends. His presence in the room was bigger than his stature. He will be missed!
Memorial Service: Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church 5417 40 Avenue, Wetaskiwin
