Leander Joseph Kirwer

August 6, 1938 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Leander (Lea) passed away peacefully at the Wetaskiwin Hospital surrounded by his wife and family. Lea is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Helen (Steuerwald); five devoted children: Theresa (Jim Williamson), Dallan (Eva Peters), Louise (Lonnie Forth), Greg (Nellie Bukkems) and Adele (Bill MacDonald); ten grandchildren: Matthew (Carmen), Meghan, Jason (Holly), Cahlyn (Dave), Nathan (Katie), Tracy (Bryan), Ethan, Breanna (Sarjan), Kirsten and Kyle; four great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Ellah, Spencer and Mackenzie. Lea is also survived by his sister, Shirley Mildenberger and numerous extended family.

Lea is predeceased by his parents, Irvin and Rose, his sister Doreen, his brother Pat, his daughter-in-law Brenda, his granddaughter Mary Leanne and his great-granddaughter Lailah Grace.

In Lea’s memory donations may be made to Wetaskiwin Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care  6910 47 Street, Wetaskiwin, AB T9A3N3, or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta, 10531 Kingsway Ave, Edmonton, AB T5H, and in lieu of flowers we would encourage you to become a blood donor.

Helen and family would like to thank Dr. de Wet, the staff in the Wetaskiwin Emergency Department, Unit 35, Home Care and the Lab for their exceptional and compassionate care.
