Erna Linda Jackson

Erna Linda Jackson (nee: Piel), was born on October 3, 1930, in the Brightview District, west of Wetaskiwin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Her faith became very important to her and she enjoyed taking part in church activities, bible study and choir.

She lived on the family farm and went to the Ernest Park School for nine years, and then to the Alexandra High School in Wetaskiwin.

In 1948 she started working at the Bank of Montreal, Wetaskiwin and was a stenographer for 11 years and cash teller for three years.

On November 17, 1951, Erna and William Jackson were married and were blessed with two sons and one daughter.

After their children were older, Erna worked part-time as a bookkeeper and typist for other businesses and did the bookkeeping for their own various businesses.

She loved plants and flowers, and enjoyed taking care of the flower beds and vegetable garden. She enjoyed doing handicrafts which included sewing, ceramics, crocheting, embroidery and paper-toole pictures. She took an interest in collecting poetry and interesting articles; as well as photography, filling many photo albums. She had special albums for pictures of their six grandchildren, who were their pride and joy.

Erna and Bill enjoyed carpet bowling, camping, listening to country and gospel music, travelling which included trips Hawaii, Alaska, Nashville-Tennessee, Branson-Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada and other parts of the United States, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and throughout British Columbia and Alberta.

Erna is survived by her loving family; son, Les (Loretta); daughter, Linda Clark; six grandchildren, Tanis Jackson Tim Jackson and Janeen Jackson, Crystal (Dirk) Selka, Heather Clark and her son, Pathe (great grandson) and Quinten Clark; sister, Elsie Eklund as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Erna was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill; son, Steven; parents, Karl & Ottillia (nee: Schmidt) Piel; brothers, John, Bert, Oscar and brother-in-law, Ernie Eklund

Funeral Service: Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Chapel 5302 50 Avenue, Wetaskiwin.
