Welcome to the memorial page for

Arthur Marshall Flemming

July 4, 1943 ~ April 25, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Arthur Marshall Flemming, age 73 of Bashaw, Alberta passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2017 with his wife by his side.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Faye (Melanson) Flemming; his daughters Joanne, Cheryl & Teena; and his grandson Micheal. He also leaves behind his mother Eileen; his brothers Bob, Doug, Lynn, David, & Brian; his sisters Elizabeth, Susan & Nora; as well as many more relatives and close friends.

Born in Halifax, NS, Art was raised in a large family where he grew up in Stewiacke, NS. At the age of 19, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces for a short time. After that, he moved onto a new career and became a family man on Feb 23rd, 1968 when he married Faye. In 1972, they moved out west to Alberta where he became a stone mason and spent many years crafting his trade. He eventually started his own company JCT Masonry and had great success. After a hard working career, Art settled down and retired in 2010. He and Faye did some travelling and most notably, drove the Alaska highway all the way to Eagle River, Alaska to visit their daughter Teena, who was posted there with the military. In 2014, they purchased their retirement home in Bashaw, AB, where he resided until his recent passing.

A kind, loving, hard working husband and family man, he had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed many activities through life, such as baseball, fishing, woodworking and golf. He also loved his fur kids and birds.

Rest peacefully dear man, you are sadly missed. Your memory is cemented in our hearts; forever you will remain.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Art was cremated according to his wishes, and anyone that knew him, knew that he did not like a fuss made over him. In lieu of a formal service, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Art's Life in August (date to be determined).
